You'll Never Know Heartbreak

I debated censoring this, but decided against it, since I'm a firm believer in death being an absolutely acceptable part of expression, as it is also a part of life.


I felt that this represented a female's heartbreak on two levels. On the least appealing level, we squee when we find cute animals, and I am no exception when it comes to bison calves. They are precious! On the more intriguing and feminine studious level, we all know that females alone can bear the pain of lost motherhood. That second commentary is that I went for here.

This was supposed to resemble my project Buffalo Hearts, but instead, it took on a style of its own. The watercolor pencils further emphasize this different style, though it may give me a clue how the world of the graphic novel will look if I choose this medium.

Lastly, this is partially dedicated to a friend of mine who lost her child.
